Summer Days

Do you remember the lazy days of summer?

Bologna sandwiches frying on the stove, as you awaited lunch from playing outside all day?

Carefree you were. Running from sunup to sun down.

The air felt cleaner as you ran with no shoes on with your friends catching fireflies all evening long.

When I close my eyes, I still can see these things.

Do you remember taking road trips at the drop of a dime, because gas was so cheap it was merely no effort to do.

Colors of Summer were so bright and warm.

Getting up Saturday morning to watch your favorite cartoons and enjoy your favorite cereal.

And the chores you hated yesterday, mean more today.

Even little bored moments mean more than what they meant yesterday.

Do you just wish you could have them all back? Some days I wish I could.

The lazy days of Summer play in my like a soundtrack to a movie.

Wishing I could play its memory, just one more time.
